A telephone consultation prior to scheduling your appointment will be conducted to determine whether or not this treatment is suitable for you. If you have a special need or any concerns always check with your Doctor prior to receiving any treatments and let us know if any of the following apply to you.
Indie Head Massage/Indian Head Massage may be able to alleviate pain and suffering caused by many conditions, but the approval of your doctor will give you peace of mind before commencing with treatments.
Is Indie/Indian Head Massage safe in pregnancy?
Yes it’s safe and beneficial during pregnancy. We do recommend that you check with your doctor prior to receiving treatments and consider waiting until your 13th week (when the placenta is fully established). We can modify treatments to accommodate your specific needs.
Does Indie/Indian Head Massage hurt?
No, does not hurt and should not hurt. Your practitioner uses their fingers and hands to apply pressure and manipulate the soft tissue, muscles and hair. The pressure will vary according to each individual tolerance levels, age and health.

What to expect during your treatments session?
All treatments include a detailed health consultation The questionnaire allows us to establish a client profile and identify individual needs. Please allow up to 1.5 hours for your first session.
You have an option to receive this treatment with or with out the use of oils. However, the use of oils provides several benefits for the skin, hair and scalp.
During ALL treatments you will be sitting in a comfortable chair (fully clothed) or on a massage bed (fully drapped). The arms/upperback, neck, hair, scalp face and ears will be massaged using a variety of techniques that are both soothing and stimulating. Scented or unscented oils are applied to the hair and scalp (if using oils).
At the end of your treatment you will be asked to rest briefly before moving. A treatment chart will also be completed and reviewed with you after each treatment session and home care suggestions will be provided to you. If you are receiving an oil treatment your hair will be wrapped in a breathable hair cap.
Do I need to have a full Indie/Indian Head Massage Treatment?
A complete treatment takes approximately 45 minutes to one hour. This hour allows your practitioner to manipulate each area several times and provides the most amount of benefit for clients.
Modified treatments are available: 5 – 40 minute sessions for special circumstances & people with special conditions or anyone who is already receiving any of our other treatments and would like to add a little extra boost to their sessions. Modified treatments may/or may not cover all areas of the Indie Head Massage Treatment.
What should I do before a treatment?
It’s a good idea not to eat within an hour of starting a treatment and you shouldn’t drink alcohol 24 hours prior to receiving any massage treatments. If you are receiving an oil treatment for your hair and scalp we recommend that you wash your hair prior to receiving a treatment and do not use any leave-
How will I feel during my treatment?
Indie/Indian Head Massage provides a unique experience for everyone and each person responds differently to the treatment. Most clients feel relaxed and fall asleep during their treatment.
How will I feel after my treatment?
Generally clients feel positive and energized after a treatment. However, it is common for clients to feel so relaxed that they just want to sleep.
Do I do anything special after my treatment?
The treatments helps to eliminate toxins from the body and it is recommended to bathe in Epson salt after your session (some exceptions apply). It also helps to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Your Practitioner will recommend your personal home care for you once your session is completed. If you have had an oil treatment for your hair and scalp, it is recommended that you leave the oil in for a minimum of 2 hours or overnight.

What should I wear?
Whatever you are most comfortable in! Warm blankets will be provided to keep you comfortable.
What do I need to know about my home visit/on-
Cancellations
Unfortunately, we do need to charge for cancellations. Ideally cancellations should be made at least 24 hours prior to the treatment time otherwise a cancellation fee will apply. Please call or email us as soon as you know you need to reschedule.
