COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This is a 1 day in class course and includes theoretical and practical instruction. The course is designed for Holistic Practitioners, Massage Therapists, Massage Practitioners, Reflexologists, Estheticians, Spa Owners, Hair Stylists, Health Care Workers/Aids, Health Care Providers or as an introduction for anyone who may be contemplating a career in Holistic Therapies. The course is also open as a General Interest Workshop Course.
In this course, you will explore the History, Theory, Principles and Application of Ayurvedic Massage and will learn the techniques of performing a 1 hour Ayurvedic Foot/Hand Massage on a client. You will learn about anatomy & physiology, pathology, possible benefits, precautions and contra-indications and about possible reaction as they relate to this course of study. Expanded applications include an introduction to foot baths and treatments, carrier oils, essential oils and their safe use and modified treatments for special groups. You will also learn how to conduct a client consultation and about health, safety and sanitation standards and how to develop and implement best business practices.
A Certificate of Attendance and Completion of Training will be awarded at the end of the course and FULL Certification may be obtained by completing case studies, a written and practical exam (refer to certification details, below).
PREREQUISITE(S)
Must be 18 years of age or older. NO prior knowledge or experience is required.
CLASS REQUIREMENTS
You will need a zero gravity chair to be able to do this massage and will need to bring this to class.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFIED HAND AND FOOT MASSAGE PRACTITIONER
Complete the Full Day Workshop in both Hand and Foot Training
The Written Exam worth 45% of the final written mark. The exam covers all materials included in the course manual. This is a 1 hour exam and the format is multiple choice. The written exam must be completed within 3 months of the in-class course. The passing mark of the written exam is 80%.
You must complete 40 case studies, consisting of 5 sessions each on 8 non-paying volunteers. Case Studies are worth 10% of your final mark and are to be submitted on or before the practical examination. You have 9 months to complete case studies. Case Studies must be completed before you can do the practical exam.
The Practical Exam is worth 45% of your final mark. The practical exam consists of you doing a full
treatment on the instructor. You must be able to demonstrate your knowledge of the techniques taught and the proper sequence in which to do them. The passing mark of the Practical Exam is 80%.
You have 9 months to complete the Practical Exam.
You have 9 months to complete the entire course for FULL Certification.
EXAMINATION COST
$100.00 each payable at time of testing (Written Exam) covers both the written and practical exams.
COURSE OUTCOMES
By the end of the course the student will be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of the theoretical principals and explain to clients what a Ayurvedic Foot/Hand Massage is and what the possible benefits are
Be able to perform a Ayurvedic Foot/Hand Massage on a client, using the techniques taught in class
Demonstrate an understanding of anatomy & physiology and pathology as it relates to the Foot Massage
Perform a client consultation and complete a client record card
Explain the difference between general cautions and special cautions
Identify the contraindications and know when not to perform this massage on a client
Demonstrate an understanding of the safe use and application of foot baths and products and foot treatments
Demonstrate an understanding of carrier oils and essential oils, their safe uses and applications
Understand and know when to modify sessions for special groups
Apply best business practices and implement health, safety and sanitation standards in their practice
Understand and always work within the limits and scope of their level expertise and profession
Demonstrate professionalism and engage at all times in a code of conduct beneficial to their clients and profession
